Policy Advocacy
Influencing Development Policies for Our People
This will entail advocating for policy that will ensure the greater and appropriate
incentives for investment and sustainable use of resources that are dominant in
rural areas and relevant to the economic prosperity of rural communities in
Nigeria. Amongst other things, an important point for advocacy for
comprehensive rural development resides in the broad demand for greater
Localism. This is intended to pass power to local communities with measures to
include a community right to bid for assets of community value (in competition
with commercial bidders); a right to veto excessive council tax rises in referenda;
and various measures relating to planning and housing.
